At this moment I'm working with a singer to create her new EP. Whe're at the final stage of the production. I helped her on the road of creation to make her basic ideas to full grown and mature songs. Let's compare it to a painter's masterpiece which needed the charcoal body and then got the right colour(s). From the start it's been a joyful time working on this project!
I'll keep you updated when there's more to say about the release. But next couple of weeks I'm (we) heading to the studio in Oosterhout to make the already useful recordings, back in my homestudio,  more complete.

Yes I know dear fans, it’s been awhile since I posted updates. But I can tell you that the final part of a new song is near. Whazaaa! Adjustements were made and also my opion on different other songs changed (a bit) and it took time to consider the way on how to release this new music. So first there will be a release of a new single called ‘Only for awhile’. It’s  - as the other songs - an uptempo number with a cheerfull sound. However the lyrics are more serious. The core explains that when feeling sad, and going through rough times in life, it may help to stay in the here and now. The storm in life will be only for awhile!

So why does it need editing? Well, after listening my home-recordings in a professional studio, I noticed that the song needed more body. Imagine someone’s trying to hit you really hard but just isn’t reaching your body. It doesn’t hurt. The reason why this sometimes occurs with songs is a magical question. However for OFAW it is the Analog/Digital conversion which needs to improve! This week the single will get more oil , body and dynamics. I’ll hope you like it folks!!

New art on it's way!

Currently I'm working on a new EP! The record will have four songs and will mainly consists of happy and chearfull melodies. So a bit less serious than 'SWAY'. The exact releasedate is still unknown due to quality matters of the recordings, that -in my opion- needs more attention! Sign up for the newsletter and follow the latest details. Greetz, Celsus.

Work in progress

'Project Meanwhile'

For those who already follow me a while it's not a surprise anymore, however I produced different songs for the masterclass of Erwin Steijlen (check which can be heard on Soundcloud. A couple of them need more attention and love. Currently I'm working to make those ones 'real' songs and hope to make a nice production out of it!!

This is newsletter no.3! I already gave away the topics for this one on FB. Let’s start with the storyline of ‘Sway’.

If you look up the meaning of the word sway it says; move or cause to move slowly or rhythmically backwards and forwards or from side to side. This is the explanation of the physical behavior. However, the album and songs are  more about the choices in life and doubts people sometimes live through. I guess anybody recognizes the same sort of motions.

In the storyline of ‘Sway’ it’s all about one man who crossed mid-fifties and wonders what could have happened if he would have chosen other directions. The songs on the 8-track album circling around his most important considerations in the past decades of his life. The ups and downs are becoming clear when running through his train of thought. Sometimes getting back to his youth (Indian Summer for example), questions about love and the hope of reaching the pure core in it (Again)…but most of the time it’s about his current figuring and swaying around his old and new choices (Sway I+II).

Eastman Parlor

When writing a song it’s important (to me) that you have favorable instruments apprehended. You need an instrument which ‘gives’ you songs. Your ideas and music in your head demanding a freeway to exit your body. This sounds a bit mystical or dreamy, but I can’t explain it otherwise. An instrument in its self is nothing until you play it with the feeling in your body and soul. So it’s an extension of who you are at that moment. My parlor model acoustic/western Eastman guitar has this ability. Although currently at the luthier to get some maintenance. It’s not even the best or most expensive instrument I’ve got..and also lacks a bit of studio quality. But I couldn’t life without it!
